Yuki
Here are some recent pix for you.... They are doing very well and are now house broken. They have put on a bunch of weight and are now close to 20 lbs each.
Thank you,
Lonnie
Update! ...Here are the latest pictures of Yuki and Oreo almost fully grown up as they approach their 1 year old mark (we guess). They have turned into great dogs and are so much fun to be around. Their personalities are pretty much the same as when we got them; Yuki (white strip down his nose) is the shy bigger one and follows the lead of Oreo. He is more huggable, but runs into his kennel when scared. Oreo is almost fearless and is the first to greet someone, while Yuki hangs back and barks. She bosses Yuki around at times, even though she is a bit smaller. When we take them to dog parks, they play with the other dogs in pairs, sometime going up against bigger dogs together. They are well socialized and we don't have any trouble with them. They are so funny when they get the crazies and run around the yard chasing each other. They love to go after the squirrel that teases them every morning. They are such great fun!!!..

Bambie
....she is very wonderful. She reminds me a lot of my other dog, but with her own personality.
She knows how to sit, lay down, stay and shake hands.
I am very grateful to have her.
Here is a photo.

Beau Beau and Romeo
Today I was looking at Beau-Beau and Romeo, two kittens that you gave me in 1993 and was thinking of you. I thought you may want to know how they are doing. They are still with me and doing well. They are 15 years old now! I am including a couple of photos. Beau-Beau is the black and white one. Romeo is all black. I remember you had Beau-Beau with his brother Romeo in a playpan in your kitchen and I thought: "Oh that kitten is so cute, he'll find a good home right away". Well, he did. With me! By the way, they didn't have those names when I got them. I named them.
Hope you are doing well.
Bye
Gwen

Cooper
He loves shaking his squeaky toys, running around out back and rolling around on the lawn. The crate has not been a problem. He goes to it when he wants some personal space.
Cooper does not like the noise of the garbage truck and hides behind me when he hears it. Cats & squirrels are for chasing if he could but he's usually on leash when he spots them. Birds are too smart to hang around that long. He is fascinated with horses but realises they are not for chasing.
Enjoy,
Daniela

Elliott
...
Elliott now weighs 16 pounds - I think he weighed only about 13 pounds when he came into our lives over two years ago now....
You will be able to see how fat he has become over the last two years! He is still very happy and healthy, and when we moved to our new apartment in December of 2005, he met a new friend named Popkorn, who is a chihuahua-terrier mix. They are best friends.
I hope you are all doing well - we look at AHAN's website and save-dogs.org now and again and see that you are still doing good work. Keep it up! And let us know how you are.
Thanks,
Katie, Kathy and Elliott

Tuya
Well, it seems incredibly but Tuya (formerly known as Kona) arrived two years ago this past September 11. After some initial "challenges," she is now well settled and has come into her own personality, which keeps us and the people at her daycare (Fog City Doggie Day Care) entertained at times, to say the least.
Attached is a picture of her with her older sister at Crissy Field, one of their favorite places. Tuya is the one facing the camera.
I want to thank you again for all your amazing work, Vickie, and for bringing Tuya into my life. You truly help make this world a better place.
All the best,
Miriam

Bonnie
... First of all I want to thank you for taking such good care of Bonnie and allowing her to be part of our home. She is a treasure! We also appreciate the nice letter you sent with her. We felt we knew her so well as soon as she got off the airplane. My three children were at the airport to greet her and she was so very happy to see them. We took her to our veterinarian yesterday and they said Bonnie is in excellent health. She has already learned three commands: Sit, Stay and Shake....

Francis
I have mentioned you and thought of you often, almost everytime people would ask me where I got my sweet beautiful dog. ... For the last two years, our life has been one of utter familial bliss. Francis was a dream with the new baby. Unfortunately, three days ago he began bleeding from the mouth. We hospitalized him and did everyhting possible for him. It seems he had a blood disease that had his white blood cells attacking his platelets. As his organs were filling with blood. And despite his failing insides, his outward disposition was always one of bravery and love and happiness. Last night at 2:15 am, we hugged him and held him and helped him take his first step into the next world. We feel Francis was called back way too early, at 8 years old. And while we know he is at peace, our souls have been troubled with guilt, pain, and longing for our Francis, our Golden Boy- the first name you gave him. It has seemed like a nightmare that we want to awaken from. Even our 16 month old Sofia has been calling out his name. Our home is just not the same without Francis. And while I am deeply depressed and preferring the silence, Jennifer is grieving Francis through the idea of bringing another four-legged friend into our home. If you have any pictures or stories of Francis, please send them to me. Also, once the pain has subsided, we would like to adopt another creature, preferably from AHAN. I hope all is well and I am deeply sorry to burden you with this bad news from one of your little angels.
...
Best,
Peter |

Buddy
... We are creating a MySpace.com website for Buddy (aka: Goldon) the Dog (Laskey). Buddy has adjusted quite nicely to our home and our family - he walks very nicely on a leash, runs alongside my husband while he is biking, can chase and retrieve a tennis ball and his flip chip. We bought him a doggy crate with a sheepskin padding and he loves his new crate/bedding - he only sleeps in there at nightime and retires to bed around 8:00 pm - sleeping through until 8:00 am - actually I had to wake him up at 8:00 am and he gave me a big yawn - he got to meet the lawnmower, mop and vacuum cleaner - which he would bark at but everything is in harmony and balance.
...- A million thanks to you, AHAN and Jaijen for making this possible ....
MySpace pics
Cheers,
Jacquie, Dave, Dennis and Justin Laskey

Reno
... We wanted to get in touch with you now that we have had our Reno for about a month. Please let me tell you what a wonderful dog we think he is. He is absolutely adorable, completely loyal, sweet tempered and likes everyone. And everyone we know has fallen in love with him. Simon and I are so happy to have Reno in our lives and feel like we are really lucky since he came with so much training and good nature. Really you did a great job training loving and caring for him which has made it easier for us. So thank you. We are giving him a lot of love and attention and we pretty much take him wherever we can. He is like a shadow when we are together and likes to follow us everywhere. He is a little bit obsessed with food, and did not like the first dog food we gave him but now we have found one that he likes better. We have taken him to the vet and he is up to date with all his shots, which he mostly had before he came. We are attaching a few pictures here of Reno at the beach and on a trip we took him recently to Yosemite National Park. He had a great time.
Thank you again and rest assured Reno has found a very loving home, ...

Teyha
... She loves to play with other dogs (big and small), she is a very fast runner and loves to lead the other dogs running around the dog park. She seems to have a special affection for small dogs - I think it might be because of the time she spent with her foster family.
She is still a little fearful around new people but she now has many people friends and is getting better every day. Tehya has also turned out to be a good guard dog - when a stranger comes to the door despite her size she can be very intimidating. I never expected her to be that protective but I highly doubt anyone would consider coming into the house uninvited.
Another thing she enjoys is chasing squirrels off our backyard fence - they no longer risk coming in the backyard. She has also caught a few small rats and left them lined up by the back door for me. And even though she chases the small animals she is very smart and knows that our cat, Simba, is not to be bothered. She will wait patiently and wait her turn while I feed Simba or give him a treat.
I tell you of these attributes because I wanted you and others like you who rescue and take care of the abandoned and abused dogs what a great dog this poor dog turned out to be - when I look at her rescue picture and I am not sure what person would want to adopt her (except maybe me).
But now, every day we go out for a walk, to the dog park, or the pet food store people stop and ask me what kind of dog is Tehya - If there was a breeder of this special dog I know I would have already sold 10 of them. I do tell people about her history and that I think she is part Taiwanese Mountain Dog. Surprisingly several people I talk to know about the efforts to rescue dogs in your area.
...
Thank you again. Your friend, Jen

Bailey
Bailey is great, he learns very quickly and may be one of the smartest dogs I have ever met. I learned right away that if he sees me put dog treats in my pocket, he will stick right by me and will not take his eyes off me, which is great for training him on walks. He is getting along great with the other animals and seems to be making himself at home.
I cannot thank you enough.

Cooper
...
Just to let you know that Cooper has graduated from his beginners training class and will start intermediates in June. To celebrate we took him to the dog park with one of his doggy friends. He enjoyed it so much that it wiped him out and he is a high energy dog!
We met another Black Lab/ Border Collie mix there so we had to look twice. A young Husky lady took a shine to him and followed him everywhere.

Jody
We wanted to first thank you for rescuing the pup and enabling us to adopt Jody.
Jody is doing wonderfully and we couldn't be happier.
Every place we go and every people including a experienced dog trainer we meet can't stop complementing how wonderful Jody is how well trained she is.
Jody is able to sit, shake, and lie down at clear command and even roll over (well, it's mostly me who does the rolling).
Our neighbors with dogs are coming to play in our back yard and she's been playing well with other dogs. Jody is a gentle soul and she loves to play.
And you are right, She Loves to eat. We have to regimen her to a strict diet otherwise she'll balloon to a pro-wrestler size.
Just wanted to touch base with you all and give an update.
We'll let you in on Jody's well-being at her next stage.
Thank you again,
From The Beaks
