The following is a note from Mercy's current family.
Mercy is a beautiful and healthy 7-year old brindle and white, spayed Pit Bull Terrier. She is extremely well mannered and has been a pampered and cherished pet since she joined our family at 6-weeks of age. Mercy is affectionate and loves all people. She is gentle around children, although she can get carried away licking crumbs off of babies.
Mercy's
favorite thing in life is food of any origin, except lettuce. She will work
hard for treats but also relishes verbal praise. She can sit on command, shake,
roll over and will come when you call her. Food aside, camping, hiking, swimming,
and fetching sticks are all high on her list of leisure activities. She also
likes to go for rides in the car. She is not particularly fond of baths but
she will tolerate them. Nail clipping can also be a battle but she tolerates
that too.
Mercy is very strong and is best managed with a gentle leader or a nose harness. We have tried a variety of other tricks but the gentle leader has been the most effective by far. Mercy lived happily with a Basenji as her companion for the past 7 years but has not had much exposure to any other dogs. Mercy had a single session with a dog behaviorist several years ago. The specialist felt that Mercy was a highly trainable and did not display "aggressive" behavior. She did recommend that Mercy were to be introduced to other dogs, that she undergoes more intensive training and that someone with knowledge of dog behavior monitors the situation.
It is with broken hearts that we leave our pampered princess behind. We are moving overseas and regretfully cannot take her with us. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and we will truly miss her. We are confident though that she will bring love, laughs and a little bit of excitement to her new people. Please take good care of her.
