Snowy is a 2-3 year old, spayed, female, 60 lb. white german shepherd. She formerly belonged to a student of mine in West Oakland. She got into a neighbor¹s yard one night and was badly beaten up by a pack of dogs. She ran away, and her owners never bothered to look for her. I found her at the Oakland City Shelter two weeks later, afraid and in pain. The shelter was going to put her to sleep because she wouldn¹t eat or take her medicine, and was biting the staff. I knew she was a gentle dog, so adopted her in June of 2003.
Since then she has really come out of her shell, and is truly a beautiful animal, sweet, loving, submissive yet playful and energetic. She has learned to sleep indoors, accept grooming and enjoy the civilized life.
She goes off leash and socializes well with other dogs, including my two at home. She has no formal training, but is very smart and obedient. I will gladly foster her until she finds the right home, one with a securely fenced yard, another companion dog, some human company during the day, lots of walks and most important, a kind and sensitive guardian who will see her beautiful spirit.
